Can someone tell me the difference between bungee cord and shock cord? Is
it appearance, function?

Thanks,

Josh

Joshua asks "...the difference between bungee cord and shock cord?"
Bungee cord is tied to the ankles of daring tourists on bridges near Queenstown,
New Zealand. The tourist is then flung off the bridge and hurtles downwards
towards the river below, eventually bouncing like a yo-yo. They pay for this
experience!
Shock cord is tied to the genitalia of certain daring tourists in....
Wait, I think bungee cord and shock cord are actually synonyms.
Sorry, PT.

G'day Peter:

Love that Aussie humor! Here is Israel they contribute much, like
"Australian Rules" football (Peter, explain this to the list...) In Israel
all us native English speakers are known as "Anglo-Saxons." Go figure...

Thanks, sport.
:)

Josh

P.S. Seriously (I know that's hard for Aussies), is Peter right that they
are synonyms?

"Australian Rules" football (Peter, explain this to the list...)"
Perhaps this is a little off target for this list, so I'll avoid it and:-
Pass, too hard, too emotional. My team, St.Kilda has only won one of the
first twelve matches, and languishes at second bottom position on the
ladder. Its star players are going down with injuries each week. I think
I'll concentrate on winter paddling and a bit of XC skiing.
If you really want to know, though, see

Josh,

My understanding was that Bun-Gee was a company name that made shock cords. I think I bought some Bun-Gee brand shock cords about 15 years ago. The two terms have always been interchangeable in places I've been.

As far as I remember Bungee is actually Bunji and has it's origins during
the British occupation of India.

I think "bungee" is used here in the U.S. more by sea kayakers, and "shock
cord" more by sailors; otherwise they are synonymous. Oh, BTW, I think
British usage is to call them "elastics,' as in "deck elastics."
