Don't think the natives have seen your message yet - they're late to rise over
there.

I took some kayak classes in Monterey last year, and wore a wetsuit and a thin
splash top. This was fine until we practiced rescues and surfing - extended
time in the water left me freezing! (It was very windy) I would at least wear
a wetsuit, which should be fine for rolls and short swims. I noticed the
natives typically wore fuzzy rubber shorts with a heavier spray jacket.

Always dress for at LEAST short term immersion! I got dumped by a seal trying
to board my tiny vessel - didn't want to risk the $15,000 fine for harassing sea
life, so I let it have its way!
