Hi Bob,

Matt Broze once made a very simple (and cheap) paddle leash for me, and
I've used this type of leash ever since (I make them myself)... BTW -
thanks Matt! Your interest in helping me find a reasonable solution,
without feeling the need to sell me a more expensive (and less useful)
leash has always been greatly appreciated.

It's just a bungie - one end tied to the paddle shaft, and the other
end has a plastic (or nylon?) one-piece clip - in any case, it's very
durable (there's a hole in the base of the clip through which you put
the bungie and tie a knot). When not in use, I wrap it around the
shaft, and attach the clip to one of the other loops of the leash.
When I need it, I just unwind it and clip it to a deck bungie. This
has passed the the test of many big shore break thrashings while
playing in surf. The leash stays on my paddle at all times - ready to
deploy any time it's needed. Each paddle has it's own permanent leash.

Total cost of this wonderful leash system is about $2.50 each.

Melissa
