[Paddlewise] Great Stolen Kayak Recovery Story

Paddlewisers,

A week or two ago, there was a posting on the San Diego Kayak Club email list 
from a well known and liked local kayaker.  This kayaker informed everyone to 
be on the lookout for two whitewater kayaks that had been stolen off his car. 
 The kayaks belonged to him and another well known and liked kayaker in the 
area.  He described the kayaks in the email and said they should be easy to 
spot because they were rare models in this area.  Because of a tight kayaking 
community and the internet, these boats were being watched out for by a lot 
of local kayakers, more than the thieve probably could've ever imagined.

This evening there was an update on the email list.  The kayaks were 
recovered thanks to a local kayak shop owner willing to get involved and 
somehow "luring" the thieve into his shop and stalling him until the police 
arrived.  I won't name the shop owner, but let's just say that the guy 
paddled from California to Hawaii.
