I used to have a Chimp hand pump mounted on the right side deck at the rear
of the cockpit. This is a great place to snag your wrist paddle leash or
sleeve, or bang your hand, as well as tangle tow lines. I think the best
thing you can do with a deck mounted Chimp hand pump is remove it, fill the
hole with a screw in hatch, and convert the pump to a foot pump mounted on
the front bulkhead. The conversion is easy if the right size stainless
spring is fitted internally. The discount boat supply places here sell
cheaper Taiwanese pumps similar to the Chimp design which seem OK.
