Dave, and all PW'ers, The Bay Area Sea Kayakers (BASK) has proven very helpful to me since I returned to the San Francisco area 15 months ago. It's a sizable and well-established club, but very open and supportive of newcomers. BASK members "initiate" (as distinct from "lead") open group outings at all skill levels and on a very wide range of water conditions, ranging from calm water on the Delta area to challenging Pacific coast sea caving and rock gardening. I just returned from a weekend of camping and day/nite paddling with BASK'ers. That included a four-hour full-moon paddle up the tranquil and bioluminescent Big River on the Mendocino coast (northern CA) and, the next day, a frisky outing on booming ocean whitewater around and through lots of rocks on the nearby coast itself. Oh, and the large group potluck dinners can be pretty special, with BASK sometimes described as "the dining club with a paddling disorder". :~) Membership, meetings, and lots of other detailed info on BASK at http://www.bask.org/index.htm Cheers to all, John Somers At 11:12 AM 7/17/00 -0400, you wrote: >Date: Sat, 15 Jul 2000 09:13:37 +0700 >From: "Dave Williams" <dave_at_paddleasia.com> >Subject: [Paddlewise] Whose in San Fran? > >Hi folks, (snip) San Francisco soon.
