Nice report. I'm almost tempted to visit Loooosianna and do some paddling.

Speaking of Pileated Woodpeckers, the other day we were driving down the
road near Hope, ME, and saw two of them on a telephone pole. They seemed a
bit confused by the pole, circling and testing it. . . Really beautiful
birds.

Yesterday, I woke up here in Lincolnville Center, ME and saw a large Great
Blue Heron just outside the cabin. Working on my building site later in the
day, we saw a Bald Eagle soaring along the coast, apparently engaged in some
sort of disagreement with an Osprey and a couple of gulls. This morning,
there was a gaggle of Canada Geese just off the dock at the cabin. The two
Loons that circle the small island 200 feet away were there, as usual. For
my birthday last week, I received an awesome pair of Swarovski binoculars
("fully submersible"). They've been getting some good use <g>.
