[Paddlewise] Lake Powell: kayaking with portable toilets?

I am interested in any recent experiences in kayaking Lake Powell (Glen
Canyon NRA). Specifically, I am
concerned about the requirement of portable toilets for onshore camping:

... from NPS site, http://www.nps.gov/glca/ , "Anyone camping within
one-quarter mile (.5km) of Lake Powell is required to carry and use
a portable toilet unless their boats or campers are self-contained or
toilets are available on such as plastic bag-lined buckets or cans
are not acceptable."

Anybody has experience in kayaking with a chemical toilet?
I suppose this is a wider problem not limited to Lake Powell and
southwest
only.

I don't believe that I can accomodate one on the board of my
CLC Patuxent 19.5 unless there are some really high tech solutions ...
