Dear D. Lee,

 I read your posting this afternoon just as I was about to go out or I
would have replied to tell you how funny I thought it was......Actually
we have something very similar to that in my neighborhood. We have small
but close neighborhood with a very active neighborhood association and
we are all connected by an e-mail list not unlike PADDLEWISE.

One day last month one of my neighbors on another block posted an SOS to
help her get the renter across the street from her to cut his lawn, or
should I say jungle...with weeds approaching three feet high. She gave
us all the phone number and e-mail address of the owner of the rental
house and although I was too busy to "vote" at the moment...within an
hour I heard the lawnmower at that house buzzing away (it backs up to my
back yard and I voted years ago with a hedge)  heaven knows how many
"votes" the landlord had received within that hour. We now refer to it
as the "Cyber Fence" or the "Tom Tom Drums".

This also works for fund raising...We have a big 4th of July parade and
this year we decided to honor the founders of our neighborhood, many of
whom are elderly. Our local transit system has small busses that look
like cable cars that can be rented for such events and when I got the
idea to transport the founders in the parade, I put the idea out for a
vote and pledged an amount to get the ball rolling...within 24 hours I
had e-mail "votes" with pledges for the $180.00  needed for the rental.

While your idea is funny as heck in the format in which you posted
it...it is also a sound and fun idea that you and other Paddlsewisers
may want to try in your own neighborhood.
