The cracks on my new hatch cover appeared after only two weeks or so, so I think there was something wrong with the material it was made from; it wasn't caused by age or exposure to uv. BTW, my cracks were across the bottom of the rim, in a radial direction, not in a circumferential direction, as was the case with some of the posts. Imagine you have flipped the cover upside down and drawn a radius from the center out to the edge. Where that line crosses the rim was where each crack was.
