To my knowledge, at present there are no commercially available off-the-shelf methods to mount upwind sails like the Balough Batwing and outriggers to Feathercraft kayaks. I understand that in the past at least two Feathercraft, a K-1 and a ST, have been custom fitted with the Batwing rigs. I would appreciate any information, sketches, photos on how this was done. Actually it was two K-1s and a Short-Touring. I did articles on the K-1s with extensive descriptions but not an article on the Short-Touring. One of the K-1s and the ST required surgery on the deck, some frame tubes and welding. The ST had a most interesting way of using a half paddle as a leeboard but the fellow who designed the apparatus thought he might make it commercially available and did not want it sketched or described much. So I never wrote that device up. One of the K-1s had an outrigger like on normal Balogh sails. The other used SeaWing sponsons. Email me with an address I can send copies of the articles on the adaptation of the K-1s. Or a fax number. I can't email it to you. best, ralph -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ralph Diaz . . .
