I want to thank everyone for the binocular advice/info. I had decided on getting a cheapo pair until I went to REI and found a pair of totally waterproof Bruntons (sp?) 8x22? that were originally $120 on sale for $69. I am very happy with them and, in fact, am writing this email from Quito, Ecuador at a little internet cafe. I will be using those binoculars in the Galapagos Islands tomorrow! Hopefully I will be snorkeling with sea lions tomorrow... No kayaking I think. :( I will post pictures on my web site when I get back. It is amazing/depressing/convenient/exciting how many internet cafes are here. $1.00 an hour. Can{t beat that. But it makes me feel not far away and that{s no good, right?
