Ok, 'fess up, who turned this esoteric discussion about the relative merits of VHF radios into a free-for-all about low-end TV programs!! I confess to watching ONE episode of a survivor type program, this one was the English version with a motley crew dumped on one of the Western Samoan atolls. Perfect example of lowest-common-denominator TV, and I speak as one who is a 'survivor' from a career in TV! Voyeuristic TV, so bad you can't turn it off. But hey, who cares... just look at the ratings.... Back on topic.... I am sure that it won't be too long before we just buy one gadget which will be a combined satellite phone/radio/gps/satellite tv/email and net and 406 EPIRB, all in one unsinkable brightly coloured waterproof package. Now there's a challenge for the Standards and Raytheons and Garmins of the world. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
