Although any paddle float should be well made, and it's nice to be resourceful, I do still question the wisdom of using a possibly essential piece of safety equipment so freely for other uses. Though they may seem quite harmless, accidents do happen, and I'd hate to be without a paddle float just because of something that happened to it while it was being used for something unrelated to it's primary purpose. The more things it's used for, the more possibilities exist for it to be somehow damaged. So far, I haven't had to use mine in an actual emergency, but I don't doubt that someday I will. I do test it regularly to make sure it's sound, but other than that, I don't use it for anything else. Besides, Taking along a warm and comfy fleece pillow case that can be filled with a piece of warm clothing is far more comfortable, and doesn't really take up any real space, or weigh enough to be of any concern. just my $0.27 (inflation, plus tax) Melissa *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Tue Aug 15 2000 - 09:09:05 PDT
