For safety sake I gave up inflatable paddle floats a long time ago. I use a rectangle 2" thick piece of ethafoam (closed cell) I have attached bungie cords to the float and it is placed under the bungie cords on the deck of my boat behind the seat. Why? 1) I don't need to inflate it especially considering how difficult it is to take a deep breath while floating in cold Alaskan waters. 2) I don't have to worry about punctures 3) It serves as a great seat 4) It serves as a knee pad when I am loading or unloading a boat , especially when I am reaching up into the ends of the boat.
