I just got a brainstorm.... Although I have a cord tether attached to the paddle of my Hobie Pursuit, my paddle often gets in the way if I am swimming, launching etc.. I have seen paddle "tie downs" on other boats and have investigated adding them on to mine...alas... none that I have seen seemed really simple, and they most required some installation. Some even looked hazardous... My mind always looks at tools intended for one use and stores the information in some dark little place until I need that tool for a completely different usage, so it did not surprise me when I found the perfect paddle tie downs in a computer store! The little velcro strips meant to keep your computers wires bundled are perfect.( 1/4" wide and 6" long with a pull tab end) Case Logic sells a package of 6 for $2.99 and they slip right through the eye hooks on the side of my Pursuit. When not in use I just roll them up and attach the loopy end to the furry backside of the loop, I like the fact that they are a "soft" add so If I have to get back on my boat they will not get in the way or harm me. When I need to use them I just unroll them, loop them around the shaft and the paddle is secure. I should add that my paddling is primarily recreational and I only use the loops when resting or swimming...not for transporting Rob Dee Austin Texas *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Wed Aug 16 2000 - 09:10:30 PDT
