After hearing Nigel Dennis' talk on equipment at the GLSKS, I've decided to look into putting a foot-powered bilge pump in my Valley Avocet RM, as a winter project. I'd prefer not to penetrate the bulkhead, and use the through-hull bolts for the footpeg mounting rails instead. Some sort of mounting bracket running between the rails, with the pump mounted on a central pad. I have shortish legs, so there's plenty of space for the pump. I'm looking for recommended pump manufacturers/models, and any tips from someone who has tried a similar project: bracket construction, mounting, plumbing routing, through-hull fitting, strum box-- anything at all. If this has been covered in a *Sea Kayaker* article, better yet.
