Materials for my first skin/frame (from a Mechanics > Illusrated article) were just under $27. But that was also 1959. The boat(baidarka) I'm thinking of was done with alder saplings from the builders yard, scrap 2 by 4s, and left over house paint. All the money was spent buying a nice piece of canvas. There's a picture of builder and boat at http://people.ne.mediaone.net/jkolsen/html/attendees.html (I verified the URL this time) Unfortunately you can't see how curvy some of the saplings were. kirk *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Aug 17 2000 - 12:05:42 PDT
