I have a Magellan 315 GPS. It is waterproof except for the battery compartment. I have a Standard HX350S VHF radio. It is waterproof and the rechargeable pack is waterproof, but the alkaline battery case is not. Someone in a newsgroup some months ago suggested filling the battery compartment or the alkaline battery case with vaseline. This would prevent water from getting in. Has anyone tried doing anything like this? Has it worked?
