This was an older post that I'm just now catching up on.

As far as I know, the Formula boats are build in Canada by Mid-Canada
Fiberglass, which also makes Scott canoes. I don't know who designs them.
I spoke with an Impex guy at the NJ Paddler show this spring, and I got
the sense that the Formula boats are not imported from Europe like a
number of other Impex/Mega offerings.

I liked the fit of the Mystic (the little 14-footer) but felt that I
really needed a longer boat for everyday use. (Although I recently
started to fantasize about getting a Mystic just for surfing). I thought
the Diamante felt a little too roomy. They have a newer design--the
Montauk--that has the snugger fit of the Mystic along with a 16-foot
longer length (and a day hatch). Overall, I think the Formula boats are
excellent value for people who want a _new_ boat and want fiberglass on a
limited budget. That said, I feel that the 2-year demo boat I recently
boat (Boreal Designs Ellesmere) was a much better deal.

Sorry for the "fag-ends" (as they say in the UK),

Jason
