grabbing at you and pulling you under, all you have to do is hold your
breath and go under the water. The person will let go. You can then approach
them from the rear and grab them in the correct way if you know the proper
technique, or surface a little farther away and figure out another approach.

Sounds like common sense but many people don't think of this when they are
being "attacked."
