	Bob,  Why not get in touch with the designer at RWP and ask his 
solution to your break down problem.  I would be interested in their
response. I have the same paddle, but not the same issue as I paddle a boat
designed not
to roll [ grin ]. 
	There is a care requirement: I have found the screw locking system must
be carefully washed in fresh water after use or the nut can 'seize' with
salt encrustation.  cheers, peter R
