We Texans used to have ticks before Queen Invictus appeared and prospered. Now we mostly have to deal with fire ant bites. And we deal with the chiggers by taking a lysol bath or putting nail polish on the bites. Both work fine. The meanest critter I've met are the leeches of the Boundary Waters. Don't use repellent except for garlic and the only mosquito problems are spitting them out of my mouth and digging them out of my ears and nose. They spit me back out. But those leeches bite you and you bleed for 30 minutes and itch like crazy for 10 days.
