Must be the hour, but that really cracks me up! Maybe by now there are kayak rentals there though. I went with a group who had just purchased a fleet of folding kayaks, and we shivered in the dark as it took them six hours longer to install them than they thought. Plus I had terrible altitude sickness already. We ended up going to bed and paddling in the morning, although I had to ride in the motor boat support eventually. Awesome spot, however. I threw together a website at http://www.viewit.com/Bolivia/ that has some resources on it. My favorite people were: Andean Summits Casilla 6976 La Paz, Bolivia Telephone (591-2) 317497 Email andean_at_latinwide.com Let Jose and Javier show you the Andes! They were mountain guides training to sea kayak. The road we took was wild and curvy. One bus went off the edge during our stay. The people are really nice, but are also into making money from tourists. (Not that I blame them). Women would stay outside the tent door with bracelets (until my tent-mate bought one). They want money for you to take pictures, or it can be taboo. Very interesting country. Not many bathrooms - often it's just the open ground, even in the middle of a town. Well, I could go on, but....
