Slightly off topic but since Tall Ships have been discussed here before I thought I'd pass this on. Just read in today's newspaper, the Connecticut Post, that the financially plagued Ukrainian schooner Bat'kivschyna has two more weeks of free docking in New London. The ship had sailed to America for OpSail 2000, and the ship's captain had decided to stay in the U.S. for the winter. Unfortunately, the ship does not receive financial support from the Ukrainian government. They can not sail back home because the volunteer crew seems to have left the area. Now they are left with a three member crew. I saw the ship in New London, and one of the crew was dressed up as a pirate. He entertained the crowd by playing a sword harmonica, and a pistol flute. He reminded my of my wife's uncle Al. I always thought he was a pirate! Now I feel bad I didn't donate any money. Anyone have extra docking space? *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************
