        It could be more of a problem --  How are you going to fill the
compartment(s)?  the batteries are a very close fit.  If you inject the
grease first, you will undoubtedly coat the terminals the battery must be in
contact with.  the grease is an insulator, so it's possible that the battery
will be unable to deliver power to the unit.
        If not the first time, then after you change batteries, certainly
so.....
