Hello everybody.

As far as I can tell, I'm adding a new nationality to the list, I'm norwegian.

I've been paddling for 2 years, mostly flatwater, but this year I took on my
first "expedition", 3 day-trip, along the southern coast of Norway with my
brother. I'm 30 yrs. old, family man (2 kids), teacher k-7. I like to read any
material (almost) pertaining to sea kayaking. I find the norwegian climate,
surf and tide very different from your descriptions, also our coastline is
mostly shielded from the open ocean by small islands, fjords and canals(nature
made).I paddle a norwegian designed and made sea kayak; Sibir Expedition, 16
foot long, fast and stable. I'm too large to fit into most kayaks (195 cm, 110
kg) but the Sibir has room a plenty for my legs and every thing I need for a
fourthnight (not). I've never paddled abroad, but the near infinite stretch of
coastline we have in Norway, with it's wildlife and scenery, I will never have
to look too far for a challenge!. Still, I'm not saying I would never
contemplate paddling other places.

I would like to thank all contibutors for enhancing my knowledge in the matter
of sea kayaking and all matters closely related.

Regards Ole Christian Bjerke

PS I always paddle with a PFD :-)

Ole:
Welcome to Paddlewise. The more nationalities the better. Let's hope it
continues to grows as a truly international list.
Know anything about Vitudden kayaks? There is one model on their website
said to be suitable for sleeping in. An interesting idea, but where does the
foreward floatation go?
I am waiting for a sample Vitudden deck fitting to arrive at the moment.
