a neighbor recently participated in a recreational kayak trip; the boat she
used was called a "spirit". she really enjoyed the boat, and asked if i knew
anything about it. i haven't a clue, but maybe some of you do.

thanks in advance-

Dimension Kayaks, a Canadian company, makes a sit on top model called a
Spirit. It's 11' long, 28" wide and is described as a "recreational" boat.

Besides that one John mentions above there are others. Spirit seems to be
one of the more popular names.

Folbot had a Spirit Classic (15-0) glass boat mentioned in the 1986 Canoe
Mag. buyers Guide.

Then there is also the Old Town http://www.otccanoe.com version of the
Dimension Spirit sit-on-top called the "Spirit" (11-0).

Vermont Canoe Products has a Spirit (17-2).

Most likely the boat she paddled was the Walden Spirit (14-0)
http://www.waldenkayak.com .

Then there is also the Wet Willy Spirit (16-9) with a wood deck and a glass
hull http://www.kayaks.org . It comes in high and low volume versions too.

Superior Kayaks has or had a skin on frame Spirit Hawk (17-6).
Finally Caretta Kayaks http://www.carettakayaks.com has a woodstrip Spirit
(19-0)

Or maybe it was a mispronunciation of our Mariner Sprite (16-6) or Northwest
kayak's Esprite.
