From: GREGGB50_at_aol.com Subject: [Paddlewise] Baja/Sea of Cortez >Any recommendations for a week of paddling in March 2001. The good news is that the winds (El Norte) begin to diminish about March/April. The water is colder then, and a wetsuit is needed for diving/snorkeling. You could fly into Loreto or LaPaz, rent kayaks etc, or drive down to Bahia de Los Angeles from San Diego (12hrs)and perhaps do a loop between Animas Bay and LA Bay. Things do not happen all that fast in Mexico. You haven't said where you live? Aside from travel times, a day might be spent waiting for winds to drop, etc. You might feel rushed, IMHO & experience. If the problem is your job and vacation time, consider this approach: Call in WELL*! I did this in the 1970s. (*This concept plagiarized-with credit from Richard Brautigan.) I think it takes two weeks to a month+ to really get into the flow of paddling in Baja. This much time will allow you to set up for a longer trip down the coast, get comfortable with the environment, people, food etc. Regards, Jay, Alma, CO *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - All postings copyright the author and not to be reproduced/forwarded outside PaddleWise without author's permission Submissions: PaddleWise_at_PaddleWise.net Subscriptions: PaddleWise-request_at_PaddleWise.net Website: http://www.paddlewise.net/ ***************************************************************************Received on Tue Oct 10 2000 - 09:28:55 PDT
