[Paddlewise] Replacing a rudder cable - suggestions needed

I recently replaced mine and wondered exactly the same thing.  What I found is
if you use good sharp wire cutters (preferably using a shearing-type cutter) and
get a good clean cut, it won't fray at all and you can slip the end through the
channel clean as a whistle (maybe cleaner if you whistle like me...).  I was
going to try a piece of tape on the end, but it just seemed to get in the way.
If that didn't work, I'd be tempted to try solder or maybe a drop of super glue
to hold the strands together.
