Hi everyone, I am one of those people that have listened (actually read) all your discussions over the past couple of years but have refrained from entering the fray. Yes, I'm a lurker! I have thoughouly enjoyed all the discussions about gear and kayaks. I and my wife have been kayaking, mostly in Lake Superior, for the last 5 years. I just built a strip built kayak and christened her in Lake Michigan around South Manitou Island. Being portly, I built her to carry my weight plus gear. So she's 20.5' long and 25" at the beam. It was my own design but functions just as I intended. Now for the request. I am in an MBA program at Cleary College here in Michigan. We have been assigned a team based capstone project for the first term. The project is to develop, design and market a fictious product. Being a kayaker, I thought that I would like to figure out a product for my favorite sport. This requires survey information.
