With all our(?) concern about safety a Question for me is: with how much (initial) instability do we have to put up? (talking about touring boats of course) I am willing to give up some initial stability for ease of paddling, for most of the time I don't need a lot of it, _and_ I like to be able to easy roll a boat to the rails and still feel stable (= good secondary/final/overall stability?). BUT I also want a boat that is easy in the heavy stuff (that is Safety to me). And I doubt if high secondary stability alone will really safe me if _I_ lose my balance/brace... So how (much) do I have to compromise? Is there a sensible thing that can be said about that?
