I should mention that MEC sells an almost-clone of the basic Chotas that they call
"Swellies". They are basically an over-the-calf reef boot. They do not have fleece
lining, just the regular fuzzy stuff you find in reef boots. The soles are soft like a
reef boot. They do share the uncoated neoprene collar around the top and the
webbing and fastex buckle closure that the Chotas have.

I haven't dunked them yet, so I can't say how much they'd flood if the closure is
cinched in. They could use an insole to stiffen the sole and make them more
comfy on rocky beaches.

The good news is that they are cheap - C$35 or C$37 (forget which - probably the
latter). In US$ that'll soon be about $2.00 if the C$ keeps its current course. ( US$25
otherwise).

Mike
