I believe the kayaks (VCP and NDK) are shipped without footpegs installed. This
permits the new owner to install them where they want them. It is my
understanding that the boats are imported by Great River Outfitters in Michigan
and from there shipped to various retailers. The retailer then install the
footpegs, or should install them, as part of the sales process. I know this is
the case with the Small Boat Shop in Norwalk, CN from whom I purchased a Skerry
XL last year. I believe the retailers can also request GRO to install the
footpegs.

Now, if you need to install them, it really isn't very difficult. Measure
carefully, drill the holes and whalla the footpegs are ready for use. Actually,
that should be measure 3 or four times and then double check again.

That wasn't the case with my NDK Romany Explorer. I bought it from GRO who ordered it from the UK. When I showed up to pick it up it was still wrapped in plastic, as shipped. The only thing they had to install after unwrapping it was the deck compass. The foot pegs were already installed.

BTW, GRO's basement is every bit as interesting as their showroom. Racks of kayaks, work table with pre cut blanks for bulkheads, etc. :)
