Among the nice gifts I got from my wife for Christmas was some Waterproof Inkjet Paper. If it works it should prove very useful around a kayak. The paper, put out by a company called Lat. 26 Inc. (http://www.lat26inc.com) works in a way that the ink from Inkjet and Bubble Jet printers becomes waterproof on the paper (NOT in laser printers or office copiers). The paper is supposed to be waterproof, tear resistant etc. Recommended use is for printing charts for kayaking among other things but equally good for other outdoor uses such as high resolution images for birdwatchers to be used in wet conditions. I probably will use it to create a high resolution image of Nuestra Senora de La Caridad de Cobre to place under deck bungee. She is the patron saint of Cuba, but more importantly, she is kind of the patron saint of paddlers (at least I think so). The image is of the Blessed Virgin calming the seas for three fisherman caught in a canoe during a storm off of Cuba about 5 centuries ago. I wrote it up awhile back in Paddlewise (I think?) among other places. Sometimes when paddling I think I can use a little divine intervention. Come to think of it, so can quite a few other PaddleWisers! :-) ralph diaz -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ralph Diaz . . .
