We, www.aldercreek.com, recently changed the BSK from Basic Sea Kayaking to
Basic Skills Kayak.
We are adapting a BCU style format in our education department which
promotes the *basic* skills to be learned in a GP <general purpose> kayak.
It's not until level 3 do you choose a particular vessel. <ie. sea, surf, or
whitewater.> This seems to make alot of sense as a GP boat is very
resposive to strokes, tilts and such. The student is not fighting a long,
sometimes stubborn boat in that early learning process. Rudders, skegs,
hatches, long paddles, etc. are not part of the early learning. KISS.

just 2 centavos worth.
