Christmas was some Waterproof Inkjet Paper.
If it works it should prove very useful around
a kayak. The paper, put out by a company called
Lat. 26 Inc. (http://www.lat26inc.com) works in a
way that the ink from Inkjet and Bubble Jet printers
becomes waterproof on the paper (NOT in laser
printers or office copiers).>> <snip>

Thanks for the tip ralph. I'm going to give it a try, and replicate some
chart detail for my next trip. My Nordkapp doesn't have the deck space
for big charts, and I generally only need detail relevant to the
intended route and escape routes. And I've been toying with the idea but
needed some product info.

Come to think of it, so
can quite a few other PaddleWisers! :-)

That's my take too. Great safety net, eh? Between 'The Big Guy Upstairs'
and the Coast Guard, help usually isn't too far away. Don't laugh ralph,
on our Storm Island crossing, the two other paddlers -- agnostics --
revisited their world views rather quickly. One even commented to me
later that they were grateful for my prayers near the end. Of course, I
never told them that I had promised God just prior to VHF contact with
the Coasties, that I'd start to tithe my 10% on my _gross income_,
rather than my net income, if He (or She, or Whomever) got me out of the
jam we were in. I even ordered new giving envelops at church soon after,
but alas, never did follow up on the fiscal management promise. I also
promised Him I'd never look at hot chicks walking down the summer
streets of town, with lewdness -- ever again. THAT lasted about a week
:-) Matter of fact, I made the same promises during my Trial Island
incident just before the Aux CG showed up, and I also never came through
for the Big Kahuna. Next pickle I get myself into, I think I'm on my
own. But just in case, could you send this foolhardy Protestant a pic of
some Saint, just in case?

DL (this actually _wasn't_ written toungue-in-cheek; the only "normal"
to be found when it comes to me, is a setting on my dryer -- but you
new that already :-) )

I was actually thinking of precisely you, Doug. But I didn't want to
bring up your name. Far be it for ME to join the gang tackle criticism
of your paddling exploits! :-) You may also want to add a pair of
rosary beads, prayer wheels and some local favorable BC totems, i.e. get
all the divinity you can intervening for you in Father Neptune's court.

Have a safe 2001 and new millenium,
