At the Padre Island National Seashore they just recently enacted a partial
ban on Jet Skis. They banned them on the lagoon on the mainland side of the
island where there are lots of windsurfers and fishermen. They still have
access to all the Gulf side of the Island. There is also lots of public
access to other parts of the lagoon where the jet ski's can be used.

There are just some situations where sharing can get downright scary. I
think the idea of having some dedicated areas (like has been done for years
with roped off swimming areas) can be very useful as long as everyone still
has access to a reasonable area of water.

I do not know if any such plan would work at Indiana Dunes or if there is any
public access to the water near the National Park that could be used by jet
skis. I just wanted to mention what has been done down here.
