Congrats on the BCU certification. I had the opportunity to get some
training from Nigel this summer as well at the AKT skills symposium. I
actually took the BCU certification and training from Scott Fairity
but took a navigation course and support strokes session from Nigel.
My braces are pretty good but he pointed out something to someone
else that made them even better. On a high brace, he suggested thinking
of the non-bracing hand (the left hand if you're falling over to the right)
as a fulcrum point and to make sure that it doesn't move up
when trying to brace. If it does the paddle shaft goes vertical.

There's a lot mroe the the 4 Star certification than just the ability
to roll, as you probably know. Mostly it's the same skills (with
the addition of navigation and exerience on longer trips) but under
more challenging conditions including surfing small waves.

Sounds reasonable to me.
