> Any of you chemical engineer/paddlers out there happen to know if Aquaseal > and Marine GOOP are the same puppy? I doubt it... both made by different companies. GOOP is made by Eclectic Products, who make a bunch of contact adhesives including E6000 which is a great adhesive. Goop is very similar to that. AquaSeal is a less viscous product that is used for patching neoprene, things like that. It is a Urethane adhesive made by McNett Corp in Bellingham WA. Its curing can be accelerated by Cotol from overnite to 2 hours. I've used both for differing purposes, and each has its advantages for what I use it for. > GOOP is "ideal for > stopping leaks in waders, wet suits, diving masks, rafts and air mattresses," > and is "both an adhesive and sealant" for stuff including rubber, neoprene > and plastics. It does work well in this fashion, but being a stiffer more viscous material doesn't always come out superneat. Aquaseal is better that way. I have used GOOP to refasten loose boot soles on neoprene booties, and I have a plate of Kydex on the bottom of my whitewater canoe which is attached with the stuff. Been there well over 18 months and is still solidly adhering. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
