The fingerless gloves with the mesh back seem to work fine for me. I've used 
them for a couple of years and just get a bit of a tan on the back of my 
hands, not enough to worry me. The gloves allow for dexterity with protection 
for everything but the fingertips. The thumb is fully covered.
