The PW website is being moved to a new server and some of the header stuff
is not set up yet so it's a bit confusing. However, you can find the
sponson discussion that was brought to PaddleWise when it was not
possible to engage in any reasonable discussion on WaveLength at
http://www.paddlewise.net/topics/boatequip/sponson.html

If you want to see the first messages on PaddleWise (I'm not sure if these
instructions are on the website, if not, I'll get them up there), then
the best way to do that is to call up the early digests (groupings of
email messages rather than individual messages). To do that, send
a message to paddlewise-digest-request_at_paddlewise.net with the word
index in the body of the message. You will receive back a long
list of digests that starts out like this:

>>>> index
.:
total 94836
-rw-rw---- 1 majordom majordom 37204 Jan 28 1998 v01.n001
-rw-rw---- 1 majordom majordom 36095 Jan 28 1998 v01.n002
-rw-rw---- 1 majordom majordom 35678 Jan 29 1998 v01.n003
-rw-rw---- 1 majordom majordom 34321 Feb 4 1998 v01.n004

(etc.)

To retrieve the first digest, send another message to
 paddlewise-digest-request_at_paddlewise.net with the following command
typed in the body of the message:

    get v01.n001

If you want the second digest, send a message to the above address and
type the following in the body:

    get v01.n002

And so on....

Hope this helps.

Jackie
