As noted the bulhead behind the seat in Nigel Dennis kayaks also permits easy flushing of water during a rescue. In terms of the forward bulkhead, I know Nigel will build a kayak with custom placement of the forward bulkhead. Thus if you have long legs, the bulkhead can be placed further forward. If you have short legs, the bulkhead can be moved back - giving more forward storage space and less space for water when you capsize. I do not think there is an extra cost for this customization.
