So I was reading my copy of Canoe Focus and had some questions after reading about the BCU Federalisation on page 45. Just to give some background, last year it was proposed and agreed that the BCU and the English Canoe Associations should not one organization. It was felt by many of the outside of England that the money generated through fees wasn't going towards programs outside of England. Also insurance that was grated to BCU coaches is only good if your in the English Canoe Associations or UK but you still paid the same fees if you were not. I may be a little off on the insurance conditions but bottom if you got your coaching certificate here and get injured or sued they will not be helping. After reading the article I'm not completely sure I understand things and wanted to see if others in PW may have a better understanding of what's being done. This is how I saw it: The US will be setting up it own division of elected people and will be run independently of the head office (BCU -UK) but will be governed by a set of rules setup by them. If this is True then what roll will the Norkapp trust be playing in all this. it was my understanding they were originally setup as a conduit for US relations with the OLD BCU. I'm hoping things will continue to improve with the BCU in the US as I like the organization.
