[Paddlewise] Larry Koenig

Distressing news concerning fellow Paddle Wiser and paddling partner, Larry
Koenig (to some on the water known as Mr. Smooth or Sir Lawrence);





Larry Koenig and wife Janell, on their way back from  Sweet Water Kayak
Symposium in Florida, where Larry was an BCU instructor, were


involved in an car accident on I-10. While Janell suffered only bruises to her
right shoulder, Larry was not so lucky. He suffered contusions to his


head, shoulder and forehead which all three required sutures.  Punctured one
lung and broke his right arm in two places and also his wrist.  Both collar
bones are broken as well.  Head injures are a major concern.  Additional
injuries were road rashes over a major part of his body after he was thrown
from the over turning vehicle.  He is in intensive care at Tallahassee
Memorial.


  I left New Orleans at midnight on Sunday night after a phone call from
Janell and headed to Tallahassee Florida.  His doctors feel  that everything
should heal well, it will take a little time of course, but the prognosis is
good.    The next three days are critical, if complications are to set in,
they would manifest within that time frame.  


Keep these lovely people in your thoughts and prayers.
