Signed up today as a new member and am sending following profile (for
Peter Osman to post?). Look forward to participation.

a) NAME: Andersen, Ellis

b) CONTACT: ellis_at_magnus.net

c) KAYAKS
-Seda Impulse (deluxe FG) 18' x 21" (my favorite single)
-Seda Tango (kevlar) 21'x29" tandem (due to arrive 3/01 - to race
and to promenade my wife in)
-CLC North Bay (modified by builder - not me) 18' x 20" w/custom
rudder (for sale for the right price)
-Dragonworks Islander (FG w/foam core vacuum bottom) 17' x 22" (for
sale for the right price)
-Hydra Adventurer (Rotomolded sit-on-top) 15'6" x 24" (for sale for
the right price)
    -Phoenix Poke Boat (FG - liteweight - 28#) 12' x 30"
-MichiCraft 17' aluminum tank canoe (for sale for the right price)
(comments regarding for sale due to wife's insistence that I thin
the fleet after ordering the Tango)

e) SPECIAL INTERESTS: Kayaking, kayaking and more kayaking, sea kayak
racing (currently 8-12 mis.)

f) SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE: Safety/industrial hygiene/environmental
professional - 25 years in industry, consulting and now, insurance.

g) STRONG OPINIONS: Love my AT Xception crankshaft paddle - pricey, but
does wonders for my carpal tunnel. Need improved paddler access points
in some parts of the country - no lake or section of waterway should be
totally private.

h) MOST INTERESTING TRIP: Somes Sound (up the middle of Mt. Desert Isl.
- only fjord in continental US) - Actually, I can't remember anyplace
I've paddled that wasn't interesting in some way or another.

i) BIO: Age: 50, married, two daughters. Live in Cecil County,
Maryland, at the head of the Chesapeake Bay and the most rural county on
the I-95 corrider between Washington and Boston.

Hi Ellis, welcome to a great place. One of the things that's great about
this place is that if you actually got all of us into a room, probably
none of us could get a word in edgewise, because we'd all be talking at
once. But on the list - with a little help from Jackie - we're pretty
civilized. Only because we haven't exactly figured out how to interrupt
each other on e-mail.

And I'll start right in by contradicting you - -actually the Hudson River
is a fjord, too - it's a "long narow inlet of the sea between high
cliffs"

Seriously, though, Somes Siound should be lovely. We've kayaked a bit in
that part of the world, but never on Somes. Do you think we should make
another trip to do that?
