Hello,

I have the HX350S, which I use for kayaking and windsurfing. While windsurfing, my radio has spent many minutes submerged since it's attached to my seat harness. When I'm getting set up for a waterstart, it's regularly about 2 feet underwater. No problems in salt water using the nicad pack...

Yes, I have a story a lot like yours. I bought one of these
recently from West Marine, who assured me it was pointless to
get a waterproof case for this submersible radio. I went out
and did one roll in salt water with the radio in a pocket of my
PFD. Soon afterwards, condensation appeared in the display of
the radio and it stopped working.

A Paddling Guru here in Seattle told me that 'submersible' does
not mean 'kayak submersible', and that he always keeps his radio
in a dry bag. West Marine gave me a replacement and told me that
was the first HX 350S they'd ever gotten back, so I don't know
what to think. Except I now keep my radio in a small dry bag.

P.S. Note to country: in addition to incessant rain, snowstorms,
hazardous waters, Mardi Gras riots, and earthquakes, the Northwest
has mosquitoes the size of canned hams!
