Hummmmm. I may have to bring that up with our Poquoson Seafood Festival
organizers, and do something likewise.

I live in a one horse town on the coast of Virginia, called Poquoson.
"Poquoson" is an Algonquin (sp?) Indian word meaning (loosely) "The Great
Marsh (or Swamp)". In this part of Virginia, people who know Poquoson think
of the mosquito as the official city bird of Poquoson!

Actually, the truth is that we have baby mosquito's - that is, they are
known for carrying off babies if left unattended in the yard............ To
keep the mosquitos from carrying off your younguns, we suggest keeping
plenty of cats (they are much tastier! - "sorry, Kathleen
Comalli-Dillon")..... We used to have planes from Langley AFB do some
spraying for us - until one of them sucked one of our mosquito's into it's
engine and crashed the thing........ I never beleived all these crazy
stories until I got bit so bad one day while cutting the grass that the
rescue squad had to give me a couple pints of blood............ and on and
on and on :-)

Seriously, Poquoson is probably 1/2 marsh and really is known in the area
for it's mosquitos, and we really do have an annual Seafood Festival.
Adding a "Miss Quito" type activity to it may be a fun thing. It could be a
comedic thing with men and women dressing outrageously with a mosquito
soemwhere in their theme. Hummmmm.... the wheels are turning now! We're
already talking about adding a Kayak race to go along with the 5K Fun Run,
the Workboat Race, the Stripped Bass Tournament, and all the other
activities that go along with the food, crafts, displays, concerts and so
forth. Thanks for the idea!!!!!!
