To our Engineers; I am changing the outfitting, on my tandem canoe, from three thwarts to four. For weight and ease of purchase. I plan on using a smaller diameter tubing. From experience on my solo boats, I feel comfortable in my choice of tubing, but would feel better with some more objective evaluation. Therefore, would one of our engineers be good enough to point to where I can find the information to answer the following question. What is the comparative strengths of these tubes, both of which are tempered aluminum. 1. One is 7/8" OD with a .065" wall thickness. This is round. 2. The second is 1.5" OD with a .05" wall thickness. This was round, but was somewhat flattened to make an oval. Your guidance and consideration will be appreciated.
