A little closer to the Sault than Richard's suggestion:

Head into Sinclair Cove and paddle south.  This will take you past the 
Agawa Rock Pictographs - worth the trip IMHO.

If the weather is good, you can head out to Montreal Island for a lunch
break - you may see caribou that were reintroduced to the island.

The waves on Superior seemed more like ocean waves than lake waves to 
me, accustomed as I am to Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay.  Longer wavelength
than I'm used to.  This makes for easier paddling on big waves - you move up
and down rather than bounce! :-)
